A daily struggle for many, being a single parent takes the strain of both work and parenting, doing what you can to provide for your children. Often playing the roles of both parents, we thought we would find some ways for you to get more bang for your buck, taking the pressure off your finances.
Rely on your support system
While not always a prominent feature in life, everyone has some sort of support system…even if they don’t quite realise. From friends to family, even colleagues at times, never be afraid to ask for help. Whether it’s looking after the kids for an hour or two, helping you with a trip to the shops or just having a shoulder to cry on, a strong support system can make all the difference – while this may not be financial, it is very important for your emotional well-being.
Stick to a budget
While it can be hard to keep track of spending, especially with a hundred other things going on, sticking to a budget is one of the most important parts of saving your money. Purchasing what you need rather than what you want, carefully working out what is priority, a budget will show you how much you have to spend and how much there will be to save.
Find deals
A great way to make your budget go further, finding deals. Sales and promotions lets you get more for less. Usually around the end of the week or month at grocery shops, this is a time to make your money go further. Increasing your savings and taking the strain off your budget when it gets tight, finding deal will save you loads while still getting everything you need.
Second hand shopping
Best for clothes, furniture or appliances, second hand shopping is an awesome way to find great deals. Usually less than half the price of what the item was in store, second hand markets and sites offer everything from cars to beds. While you may have to look for the best deal, this will save you loads in the long run.
